hello people (:

this is my first time posting on class blog for these 2 years!

and i think it would be the one and only post!

my main purpose of posting is to show my gratitude towards all of you.

So, to all those who had helped me in my academics, im really thankful :D

you girls are helpful and wonderful :DD i'll always remember all of you!

im really very sad that we are to part already ):

through these 2 years as a class together, i've learnt a lot from some of you, regardless of good or bad influence ((:

if i have a choice, i would still want to be as a class with all of you! because firstly, you people are nice (: secondly, we are no strangers to one another already mah (i supposed)!

haha anyway, i still wanna say a big THANK YOU to all of you for these 2 years! :D

Writing a Newspaper Report
Headlines

(eye-catching, yet not sensational; sums up events at a glance; more lexical than grammatical words; dictates tone/direction of article)

Paragraph One

(summary of article, offering the what, when, who, why and how.)

Paragraph Two and Three

(details of event+how it happened, what the consequences are, who were affected etc.;history of such events; scientific.factual information)

Paragraph Four

Statements from relevant authorities, eye witnesses, or victims etc.

Paragraph Five

Latest updates, advice from authorities, pleas for help etc.-this is the paragraph which your reader is going to last remember.

SOME GENERAL RULES:

1. Use the simple past/present/future tense

2. Report factually, without unnecessary emotion and stuff

3. Don’t preach or tell stories, ahem

4. Names first, then age, occupations and relation to the event/purpose

5. Keep your sentences and paragraphs short and simple-this is NOT composition writing.

6. Do not spell out numbers-eg. Use 20 instead of twenty

7. Spell out all acronyms first, then put them in parenthesis-eg. The Television Coporation of Singapore(TCS)

8. Build upon, not add information. Ensure what you imagine is relevant and not too bizarre.

And please take note that the first draft of LA SIA will be collected on Friday, 24 April. Latest by lunch. Groups of 4-hand in 2; groups of 5 hand in 3.
